The Retired Professional Fire Fighters Cancer Fund Inc. is a non profit 501(C)3 organization committed to raising funds for cancer research programs. We focus on those cancers where there is a higher than normal incidence among Fire Fighters. Although we focus on “Fire Fighter Cancers”, the entire general population will benefit from our efforts because as we all know cancer does not discriminate.
Our fund raising efforts are focused on forming partnerships with active Fire Fighter Unions, retired Fire Fighter Organizations, union organizations, trade organizations, businesses, individuals, and other groups and organizations willing to support our efforts in eradicating this horrible disease.
Funding will be allocated to those established programs that show the most promise in accomplishing our goals. A review of all potentially funded programs will be conducted by an impartial board of medical professionals.
Our good friends and Brother Fire Fighters from code 3 for a cure will embark on a cross country mission to honor those who have passed from cancer and to spread the word about a number of organizations working hard to assist, educate and eliminate this horific disease. The Retired Professional Fire Fighters Cancer Fund, Inc. is proud to support our Brother's mission. For more information about their "TOUR" please visit their web site at www.code3foracure.com We encourage everyone to track their progress as they cross the country and then return to California. If possible, come out and support them when they visit a City near you!! To Lorenzo, Peggy, John & Jeremy: On behalf of all those who have passed and their families and the hundreds of thousands of active and retired Fire Fighters across the world "THANK YOU". GOD SPEED!!
On Friday June 27, 2008 Code 3 For A Cure made it's way to Wilmington, Delaware. President Bill Newland and board member Pat Eggleston from The Retired Professional Fire Fighters Cancer Fund traveled to Wilmington to meet, greet and show our support to these truly modern day heros. The code 3 crew made an overnight stop at Wilmington's station #1. We joined with the station # 1 crew, WFD Fire Chief Willie Patrick, IAFF Local 1590 President Mike McNulty, Fire Fighter Cancer Foundation President Cindy Ell, FFCF De. President Jorge Rivera in welcoming these truly remarkable "crusaders for the cause". Thanks to the efforts of Cindy Ell, we all enjoyed a wonderful Italian meal follwed by a verbal exchange between all present about the code3's travels, cancer survival, awareness and hope.
This organization joins with our good friends at the Fire Fighter Cancer Foundation in proudly supporting the "Code 3 For A Cure" mission and encourage you to take an opportunity to meet the crew or visit their website at www.code3foracure.com. As you probably know, mesothelioma is a deadly cancer caused by exposure to asbestos. When inhaled, asbestos fibers become lodged in the lining of the lungs where scar tissue later developes into cancerous tumors.
The Asbestos and Mesothelioma Center is widely regarded as the web's leading resource for this horrible cancer. I encouage those looking for information pertaining to asbestos and mesothelioma to visit their web site .
